Team MANAGER TRAINING PROGRAM

Providing the support you need, when you need it, every step of the way!

This is a comprehensive program for New and Experienced Team Managers of Rising Star and Competitive Teams.

Events build on one another through the entire Destination Imagination season. 

 

STEP 1 - ATTEND AN AWARENESS MEETING

Recommended for: 

Parents, PTA Representatives, new Team Managers, new Assistant Team Managers

What is it?

An Awareness Meeting will introduce you to the Destination Imagination program, give you an overview of the Challenges available, provide you with internet resources, describe the support and protocols unique to your school, and offer suggestions on how to form a team.

STEP 2 - ORIENTATION

Strongly Recommended for:

All First-Year Team Managers, anyone who has general questions about the program

Also Recommended for: 

New Assistant Team Managers

What is it?

Orientation expands on the Awareness Meeting. Topics discussed include: volunteer requirement, registration, fees, the role of a Team Manager, the rules about interference, resources, and an overview of the Challenges.

 

 

Strongly Recommended for: 

ALL New and Experienced Team Managers 

Also recommended for: 

Assistant Team Managers, Campus Coordinators

What is it?

Team Manager Training is offered in two separate concurrent sessions.

New Team Manager sessions cover how to hold a meeting, how to manage parents, examples of interference, general strategies for Instant Challenge, and expanded information about available resources.

Experienced Team Manager sessions discuss advanced managing techniques, the struggle between Creativity and Interference, "taking it to the next level," and expanded information on available resources.  This session is for Team Managers who have at least one year of experience managing a team.

STEP 4 - CHALLENGE-SPECIFIC TRAINING

Recommended for: 

ALL Team Managers and Assistant Team Managers

What is it?

This is a break-out session for Team Managers which immediately follows the Team Manager Training described in Step 3. Team Managers get more information about one Challenge. Choose between either the Rising Star Challenge or one of the competitive Challenges. The Challenge Master will discuss unique requirements and scoring elements of that Challenge. 

 

 

Recommended for: 

ALL Team Managers and Assistant Team Managers

What is it?

Participants will be divided into two groups (Rising Star Team Managers and Competitive Team Managers).

The Challenge Masters for Instant Challenge will discuss the different types of Instant Challenges, the why, when, and how of practicing them, and resources available for finding new ones.

What is it?

TEAM Manager University! is for those managing either Rising Star or competitive teams.

This session includes in-depth discussions about interference and the resources available to Team Managers. The session will also cover: team dynamics, script writing, and Instant Challenge. Concludes withQ&A.

 

Recommended for:

All Team Managers and Assistant Team Managers

What is it?

TEAM Manager University! is for those managing either Rising Star or competitive teams.

This session includes in-depth discussions about Instant Challenge strategies, decision making strategies, team choice elements, and brainstorming. Concludes with Q&A.

 

Recommended for: 

All Team Managers and Assistant Team Managers

What is it?

TEAM Manager University! is for those managing either Rising Star or competitive teams.

This session will include in-depth discussions about what to expect on tournament day, talking to the parents, how to get it all done, what to do when things go wrong on tournament day, required forms and Instant Challenge strategies. It will conclude with a Q&A.
